Pontebba Summer Hockey Camp is proud to be a welcoming space for girls and women passionate about hockey. While we don’t yet offer separate programs, we’re thrilled to see a growing number of female players joining our camp each year. Albergo Spina Accommodation

Albergo Spina provides accommodation for the Pontebba Summer Hockey Camp and is included in the Full Camp Package. Located just a short walk from the ice rink, the hotel offers easy access to both the training facilities and the charming town of Pontebba.

What You’ll Get at Albergo Spina:

Typical Day at the Camp

Each day is packed with activities that provide a balanced mix of hockey training and fun:

Morning:

  • On-Ice Practice (75 minutes)
  • Off-Ice Practice (75 minutes)

Afternoon:

  • Lunch (included for those with Full Camp Package)
  • On-Ice Practice (75 minutes)

Evening:

  • Open Ice session for additional on-ice practice (75 minutes)

Total Weekly Hours:

  • 18 hours of on-ice practice
  • 10 hours of off-ice training

Pontebba is conveniently located in Northern Italy, right on the border with Austria and Slovenia, making it easily accessible by car, train, or plane. Whether you’re traveling from Italy, Austria, Germany, or Slovenia, getting to Pontebba is simple and straightforward.

  • By Car: Pontebba is located directly along the A23 motorway, which connects Udine (IT) with Villach (AT), offering smooth access from all surrounding regions.
  • By Plane: For travelers heading to Pontebba, the closest functional airports are:
    • Klagenfurt (AT) – approx. 1 h 15 min
    • Trieste – Friuli Venezia Giulia (IT) – approx. 1 h 30 min
    • Ljubljana (SI) – approx. 1 h 40 min
    • Venice Marco Polo (IT) – approx. 2 h 15 min

    From each airport, you can rent a car to get directly to Pontebba or use public transport

Is accommodation included in the camp package?
Yes, accommodation is included in the Camp Package at Albergo Spina. This package provides full-board meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) and 24-hour supervision. However, if you prefer, you can opt for the Training Package, which includes the trainings only with the possibility to add lunch for an extra fee.
Are there any discounts for early registration?
While there are no discounts specifically for early registration, we do offer standard discounts for returning players, siblings, and other special promotions for the Pontebba Camp. Be sure to check our registration page or reach out to us for more details on available offers.
Is the Pontebba Summer Hockey Camp open to girls and women?
Yes! Pontebba Summer Hockey Camp welcomes female players of all ages and skill levels. While we don’t currently offer separate camps for girls, we are proud to see more women and girls joining our programs each year in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Can parents watch the training sessions?
Yes, parents are welcome to watch the training sessions! Additionally, if you plan to spend some time away, our supervisors are always present to take excellent care of the players during the daily programme.
Do I need to bring my own equipment?
Yes, players are required to bring their own hockey equipment. There is no guarantee of a hockey shop at the rink, so please ensure you have all necessary gear, including skates, sticks, and protective equipment. If you need assistance with where to find equipment locally, feel free to contact us before the camp.
Are there Laundry services?
Laundry services are not provided as part of the camp programme. We recommend checking directly with Albergo Spina to see if they offer laundry facilities or services during your stay in Pontebba.
What if I have dietary restrictions or special needs?
If you have any dietary restrictions or special needs, please let us know in the registration form. We are able to accommodate most dietary preferences and will ensure you receive meals that meet your needs. Please be specific about any allergies, intolerances, or preferences, and we will do our best to accommodate.
Can I get a refund if I need to cancel my registration?
The deposit paid during registration is non-refundable, but it can be transferred to another of our camps within the next year if you are unable to attend. You can move your deposit up to two times. After that, the deposit is no longer transferable. Please refer to our refund policy for more details on cancellations and transfers.

Staff

Coach Kamil Vávra

Kamil Vávra

Kamil Vavra serves as the Head Coach for U16 and U14 teams at HC EPPAN/APPIANO, with an additional role as Assistant Coach for the U19 team. He has notably guided the U19 team to Italian Championships in 2022/2023 and 2021/2022, as well as securing the U15 Italian Championship in 2021/2022. Kamil's coaching experience extends internationally, including participation in the IIHF World Championship D III Qualification in 2018 and the IIHF Challenge Cup of Asia in 2018 and 2019. Since 2008, he has been a coach for the Czech International Hockey Camp. As a player, Kamil has an impressive background, competing in the IIHF World Championship U18, IIHF World Cup U18, WHL in Canada, and winning championships in the SPHL and FHL in the USA, as well as achieving the title of Slovak 2 Champion.

Coach Tomas Mahovsky

Tomas Mahovsky

Tomas Mahovsky is an ice hockey coach with a rich history spanning back to 1994. With an extensive background in coaching youth teams at TJ Viktoria Marianske Lazne and HC GRATO Marianske Lazne, Tomas has been a pivotal figure in the Czech International Hockey Camp since 2006. Holding a "B" license in ice hockey coaching and an "A" tennis-coaching license, Tomas is a graduate of the Faculty of Physical Education at Palacky University in Olomouc. Beyond his coaching roles, he also served as a PE and Geography teacher in Prague from 2006 to 2010 and later expanded his global coaching experience as an assistant coach for the Kuwaiti national team. Currently, Tomas is the head coach for the Italian-based ice hockey club ASV PRAD, bringing a diverse and enriching perspective to his coaching career.

Coach Karel Herr

Karel Herr

Formerly a successful player with four titles in the European University League for Charles University, Karel Herr transitioned to coaching at the age of 19. With a wealth of coaching experience, including leading the men's A-team in Pisek (2nd league), Karel is currently pursuing his master's studies at the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport at Charles University. Holding an "A" coaching license, Karel has undertaken internships and work-related visits to various countries, including the USA, Russia, Mexico, and China. Currently coaching in Hong Kong for the 2023/2024 season, Karel brings a dynamic and well-rounded approach to player development.

Coach Petr Hucko

Petr Hucko

A Charles University graduate with a Master's degree in ice hockey, Petr Hucko holds the internationally recognized "A" license in ice hockey coaching. Starting his playing career in HC Cheb and later contributing as a captain to four titles for Charles University in the European University Hockey League, Petr has coached in various countries, including Denmark, France, Sweden, and Italy. With coaching experience in prestigious clubs like HC Sparta Praha, HC Hvezda Praha, IHC Pisek, Herning IK, Boro Vetlanda, and HC Merano, Petr currently serves as a coach for the Hong Kong Typhoons. His diverse coaching background and international experience contribute to the global perspective of our coaching team.

Goalie Coach Filip Kubis

Filip Kubis

Spent six years in France's second division playing for Reims and Tours, followed by three years in the third division with Toulouse-Blagna. His outstanding performance earned him the title of the best goalie and a spot on the all-star team of France 2 in 2011. Since 2013, he has been coaching at the Czech International Hockey camp, while also serving as a dedicated goalie coach for Pisek Youth for five years.
