Champion Cup Ice Hockey International 2016 Tournament

At the end of August a U12 and a U14 select team in part made up of a group of Czech players in the U12 category and otherwise of players selected throughout our camps made it to Beijing to represent the CIHC in the 5th year of this international tournament.

While the group of coaches alongside the selected Czech players as well as our supervising staff left for their 14 hour journey to Beijing on the 18th of August from Prague, players and their parents all over the world did the same. Russia, Sweden, Switzerland, USA, Dubai, Finland, Scotland are just some of the many places where our players decided to pack up their hockey gear and head out into the great unknown where they would face teams from all over China as well as Taiwan and Hong Kong.

Upon their arrival the coaches Jan Safar and Jan Brychta organized one communal meeting where they introduced them to the plan of the upcoming day while already preparing them for their first ever practice as a team. So for the first ever time after an exhausting day all dedicated players got to find out more about themselves and their teammates during practices that took place at ten and eleven o clock at night before going to sleep and getting ready for the upcoming big day.

The next three days where spent in playing games against various Chinese teams of all levels as well as national teams from Hong Kong and Taiwan. Nevertheless, when not on the ice the teams had to make the most of their time and they visited various sites in Beijing such as the Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City, the local zoo and various other spots. At the end of the three days the proud coaches Jan and Jan were able to shine together with their dedicated teams and while the U14 team got second place the U12 team was presented with the title of tournament Champion. In order to celebrate the whole group of nearly 60 people got together over some typical Beijing duck and other unforgettable Chinese food.

On the last day to finish the trip the whole group embarked together on a journey to visit the Great Wall of China and then returned back to the hotel to slowly start saying good-bye to everyone as one by one everybody set off to their home towns to reminisce about the days that had passed.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH TO EVERYONE THAT MADE THIS AN UNFORGETTABLE EVENT FOR EVERYONE INVOLVED AND WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO MORE TRIPS TO COME.
